LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — Police in Lawrence are working to identify the victim of a fatal stabbing.

The Eagle Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1CgZynf ) that the body of a man believed to be in his early 20s was found early Monday morning in the South Common.

Acting Police Chief James Fitzpatrick says the victim appeared to have multiple stab wounds. There was no immediate word on suspects.

The killing was the second in the city in the last three days. On Saturday, police said a woman identified as 41-year-old Mirta Rivera was fatally shot as she slept in her bed on Exchange Street.

A spokeswoman for the Essex District Attorney's office said three people who live above Rivera were questioned and later arrested on charges unrelated to the death.
