England names unchanged lineup for Scotland match

February 6, 2014

LONDON (AP) — England has named an unchanged starting lineup for Saturday’s Six Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster retained faith with the same starting 15 and bench that narrowly lost 26-24 to France in its tournament opener at the weekend.

“It’s good to be able to select the same players and they are all determined to put last week’s result behind them and build on the performance,” Lancaster said on Thursday.

Northampton outside center Luther Burrell and Exeter right wing Jack Nowell will win their second caps after being handed their debuts against France. Burrell scored a try at the Stade de France.

Northampton lock Courtney Lawes and Gloucester wing Jonny May — who lasted just nine minutes against France — have recovered from injuries.

England’s pack excelled again in France and the eight that started the past two tests have been retained for Saturday’s game.

England will be looking to avoid a third successive defeat after November’s 30-22 loss to New Zealand.

Team: Mike Brown, Jack Nowell, Luther Burrell, Billy Twelvetrees, Jonny May, Owen Farrell, Danny Care; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley, Dan Cole, Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes, Tom Wood, Chris Robshaw (captain), Billy Vunipola.

Replacements: Tom Youngs, Mako Vunipola, Henry Thomas, Dave Attwood, Ben Morgan, Lee Dickson, Brad Barritt, Alex Goode.
