Plum School District still seeks new high school principal, athletic director, police supervisor
Three head administrative positions remain available at Plum School District.
High school principal, athletic director/student activities coordinator and district police supervisor will be appointed sometime this school year.
“We are currently in the process of vetting numerous candidates for all three positions,” Superintendent Brendan Hyland said via email. “We are making steady progress and look forward to filling these positions as soon as we find the candidates who meet our high expectations and are the right fit for each position.”
Hyland declined to say how many people have applied and/or been interviewed so far.
The board authorized the creation of its police force in July. The plan’s to have at least one armed officer in each of the district schools, with those positions filled by retired law enforcement.
Current high school Principal Justin Stephans was hired as Gateway High School’s principal in late July. His Plum departure and start date at Gateway have not been determined.
The current Plum athletic director is Bob Alpino. District officials have not said why that position was reopened. It was posted July 5.
Board President Steve Schlauch said he is confident Hyland and his team will find top quality candidates to fill those roles for the betterment of Plum.
“We are continuing to put in place many outstanding people in key positions all over place, which is going to help make Plum a great educational school district moving forward,” he said.
The first day of school is Sept. 4. The next school board voting meeting is Sept. 25.
Other positions available include head high school baseball coach, food service worker and bus drivers. A full list of district jobs offered is posted at bit.ly/2oqbEa7.
