South Carolina Sen. Hembree home after weeks in hospital
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina state Senator Greg Hembree is home after more than three weeks in the hospital after a blood vessel broke in his brain.
Hembree says he is interested to see what God wants to teach him through his ordeal.
It started July 26, when Hembree says he had a massively painful headache that came on like a thunderbolt.
Hembree says the aneurysm stopped bleeding on its own, but then he contracted a blood infection and pneumonia and was in a medically-induced coma for eight days.
The 58-year-old Republican says he appreciated the support from people of all political persuasions during his 24 days in the hospital and his week recovering at his Horry County home.
Hembree says he was told it will take two more months to recover fully.
