NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Evangelist Oral Roberts was hospitalized in stable condition Sunday after suffering a mild heart attack two weeks ago, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Roberts, 81, underwent an angioplasty procedure at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian to reopen a primary artery in his heart _ the same artery that caused heart problems six years ago, hospital spokeswoman Debra Legan said.
The angioplasty was performed without any complications, she said.
``Oral is now recuperating. We hope he will be up and going soon,″ a statement released by the family said.
Roberts founded the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., and retired as its president in 1993. His son, Richard, is now president of the university, but Roberts still serves as chancellor and travels around the country on speaking engagements.
