Washington man in serious condition after being struck by truck at Rostraver landfill

A Washington County man was listed in serious condition Wednesday evening at Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital, a day after being struck by a vehicle at the Westmoreland Sanitary Landfill in Rostraver.

William Robl, 59, of Washington was struck by a garbage truck as he unloaded his garbage truck, Rostraver police said. He suffered an arm injury in the accident at about 3:05 p.m. Tuesday at the landfill on Conner Lane, according to a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was expected to investigate the accident, police said.

Rostraver Central Fire Department assisted at the scene. North Belle Vernon Fire Department set up a landing zone at Rostraver Square for a medical helicopter that flew Robl to the hospital.
