Monroe gears up for summer basketball

April 7, 2019

MONROE — The Parks and Recreation Department will be running its summer basketball league, starting in June.

Boys and girls entering grades six through nine can put together their own teams and play basketball outdoors under the lights at Wolfe Park courts, 285 Cutlers Farm Road.

This summer, parks and rec will be running separate boys and girls divisions. Teams and individuals who wish to participate must register and pay online prior to May 30. If the town does not get enough applicants to form separate divisions, open play will be offered.

League play will be Monday and Wednesday nights, June 24 through July 31 (subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances). If entering a whole team, one person should print out a roster from the parks and rec web site and indicate eight team members. Parks and rec will fill the last two spots with individuals not associated with a team. Only registered and paid in full participants will be allowed to play.

Final rosters due to office no later than June 3. Rosters that include individuals not registered and paid will not be accepted. The fee is $75 for residents and $85 for non-residents.
