Deal Keeps Penguins At Mohegan Sun Arena
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team will stay at Mohegan Sun Arena for another 10 years, officials confirmed this morning. The Penguins and the Luzerne County Convention Center Authority have reached agreement on a 10-year extension of the team’s contract, which had been set to expire on June 30, authority board chairman Gary Zingaretti said. Terms of the contract and other details will be released Wednesday, when the authority board meets, Zingaretti said. A press conference will be held to formally announce the contract extension at 1 p.m. Wednesday, he said. The Penguins---the American Hockey League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins---have played their home games at the arena since it opened in 1999 in Wilkes-Barre Twp.
