NEW YORK (AP) _ One of two men charged in a bloodbath at a Wendy's restaurant last spring pleaded guilty Monday to murdering three people and wounding two.

Craig Godineaux, 30, will get five consecutive life sentences without parole at sentencing Feb. 21.

Godineaux and John Taylor, 36, allegedly herded seven restaurant workers into a basement freezer during a holdup at a Wendy's in Queens on May 24. The workers were all bound and shot in the head.

Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Taylor, a former employee at the restaurant.

District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Godineaux is mentally retarded and could not be sentenced to death.
