Lodi woman faces multiple felonies in police altercation
A 23-year-old Lodi woman could receive up to six years in prison for allegedly head-butting a Lodi police officer.
Lolita A. Lang made her initial appearance Wednesday in Columbia County Circuit Court on the felony charge of battery to a law enforcement officer, as well as two counts of felony bail jumping and misdemeanor obstruction.
According to the criminal complaint, Lodi police officers brought Lang to the Columbus Hospital for a blood draw after she’d been taken into custody for a mental health commitment. To accomplish the blood draw, Lodi police and a Columbus police officer needed to remove handcuffs they had previously placed on Lang. When they attempted to put the handcuffs back on her, Lang struck the officer with the top of her head, knocking him backward and causing him pain.
Lang has a pretrial conference scheduled for Feb. 4, according to online court records.
