Beach at Carver Park in Bartow opening for summer season

The Beach at George Washington Carver Park on Lake Allatoona is set to open Saturday, May 25, and will be open Monday on Memorial Day to open the 2019 summer season.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is $5 per car, according to the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau which operates the facility.

The rest of the summer it will be open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and be closed Mondays.

It is scheduled to be open July 4 and Labor Day, a news release stated.

Picnic tables and grills are available but no other fires will be allowed. There is no lifeguard on duty so swimmers must do so at their own risk, the news release stated..

George Washington Carver Park is at 3900 Bartow Carver Road in Acworth in unincorporated Bartow County.

Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau manages Carver Park and a neighboring facility, Pine Acres Retreat.

Formerly Girl Scout Camp Pine Acres, it is now open to the public by reservation and offers cottages, campsites and indoor and outdoor special event venues ideal for family reunions, company picnics, church retreats and more, the release stated.

Additional amenities include tents and cots already in place, a large swimming pool, canoe and kayak rentals, and optional wi-fi.

Pine Acres Retreat is at 3963 Bartow Carver Road in Acworth. Camping and cottage reservations may be made on ReserveAmerica.com.
