Texas man sent to prison for

DALLAS (AP) — A North Texas man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for distributing for a Mexican drug cartel about 30 kilograms of cocaine per month throughout the U.S.

Octavius Williams was sentenced Monday during a federal court hearing in Dallas.

Federal prosecutors say the 32-year-old worked with associates of the Los Caballeros Templarios Mexican cartel.

Authorities say Williams helped distribute cocaine throughout Dallas, Atlanta, Louisiana, Seattle, Oklahoma, and New York.

He had pleaded guilty in November 2015 to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Williams, from Irving, had been in custody since his arrest in July 2015.

Prosecutors say six firearms, 551 rounds of ammunition and more than $103,300 were seized from Williams after his arrest.
