Motorcycle driver dies in crash

August 11, 2018

LEBANON -- One person was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon about 4 miles northeast of Watertown.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reported the operator of the cycle was found near the machine in a cattail marsh along County Highway R near County Highway MM at Smith Road in the town of Lebanon.

When responders arrived on scene at 1:48 p.m., they found only the deceased male. There were apparently no other passengers on the motorcycle. Investigators said the evidence indicates that the motorcycle operator was northbound on County Highway R when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, entered the right/east ditch and was ejected from the cycle.

Assisting at the crash scene were Lebanon Fire and EMS, Watertown Fire Department paramedics, Wisconsin State Patrol, Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office chaplain.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt reported the identity of the deceased will not be released for at least 24 hours.
