2018 Mayoral Summit to Tackle Tough Question: Are Rising Housing Costs Jeopardizing LA’s Future Economic Growth?
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 4, 2018--The relentless rise in housing costs in Los Angeles is making it harder for businesses to recruit and retain workers, threatening a domino effect far beyond the housing market. The Los Angeles Business Council’s 17th annual Mayoral Housing, Transportation and Jobs Summit will bring together over 100 top decision-makers in housing, transportation, technology and related industries to discuss and debate best practices and innovative solutions to solve this growing problem.
The summit, to be held this Friday, Oct. 5, will also feature the release of a new study by Dr. Gary Painter of USC that explores how the high cost of housing influences local industries with the most job growth. Los Angeles is in the middle of an economic boom with low levels of unemployment and rising wages — this study calls into question if the cost of housing will put this trend in jeopardy.
