Lads Parlay $1,000 Find Into Choice Seats At Football Game
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ Honesty may be its own reward, but two boys who turned in a lost billfold crammed with $1,145 also will get choice seats at a football game.
Ron Shields, 10, and Jeffrey Wurm, 11, of Toledo, Ohio, found the billfold on the ground before last week’s Michigan-Michigan State game at Michigan Stadium and turned the money over to stadium guard Nuel Smock.
″With all the bad things happening in the world it’s really refreshing to see this type of honesty in someone so young,″ said Smock.
Smock said he told Michigan Athletic Director Don Canham about the boys, and Canham asked that the youngsters be his guests in the press box at Saturday’s Michigan-Iowa game.
After the youths turned in the billfold, authorities traced the money to a Lansing man, who said the money was from a disability check he’d just cashed, Smock said. The grateful man peeled off a $50 bill for the boys, Smock said.
