Natural gas service returning to normal
Natural gas service to customers in Western Washington is returning to normal today following a pipeline explosion in British Columbia this week that affected the region’s natural gas supply.
Both Puget Sound Energy and Cascade Natural Gas customers can return immediately to normal usage, the companies announced Thursday. Customers were asked Wednesday to curtail their electric and natural gas consumption following the incident, which had no reported injuries.
The disruption also affected refineries that rely on natural gas for operations, resulting in unplanned shutdowns at Shell Puget Sound Refinery and Marathon Anacortes Refinery.
Industrial customers, like refineries, will be able to return to normal usage over today and Friday, the Cascade Natural Gas announcement states.
Representatives from Anacortes refineries did not say yet when normal operations would resume.
