Police arrest a suspect in fatal shooting near university
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Police in Tucson say they have arrested a man allegedly involved in a homicide last week near the University of Arizona campus.
They say 29-year-old Bernard Deshon Rayford is being held in connection with a fatal shooting late last month that could be gang related.
It was unclear Sunday if Rayford has a lawyer yet.
Police found Rayford inside of a home on Tucson’s south side and say he was taken into custody without incident.
Rayford has been booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say officers went to a home on Oct. 28 and found two men who had been shot.
Both were taken to hospitals, and one of the men died. He was identified as 25-year-old Peter Ortiz.
