1 dead, 3 hurt in California highway crash; bus involved
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) — One person was killed and three others were taken to the hospital after a bus carrying a choir from Alabama and four other vehicles collided in South San Francisco.
California Highway Patrol Officer Bert Diaz said the accident started as a three-car collision on U.S. 101 early Saturday when the bus driver, unable to stop in time, hit the vehicles. A man behind the wheels of a Lincoln Navigator crashed into the bus and died.
The bus caught fire but it was quickly extinguished. The conditions of the injured are not known.
NBC Bay Area reports 19 people, most of them members of the Aeolians choir from Oakwood University, were aboard the bus. They were set to perform a free concert at Third Baptist Church in San Francisco on Sunday.
