Winds Slice Bagel Run

NEW YORK (AP) _ Trevor Murray of New York and Bernadette Hudy of Germany withstood 40 mph winds in Central Park on Sunday to win their divisions of the 10-kilometer Bagel Run.

Murray, runner-up last year, crossed the finish line in 32 minutes, 35 seconds for the 6.2-mile race. Arnnino Ortiz of New York was a half mile behind in 32:45, 15 seconds faster than Alphonse Polonia of New York.

Hudy, fifth woman in the Empire State Building Run-Up last Thursday, was timed in 37:31. Jeanne Paro of Rockaway, N.J., was second in 39:05 while Katherine Damon of Selden, N.Y., took third in 39:44.

The race, organized by the New York Road Runners Club, drew a field of 1,984 runners.
