Sharon Lou Fatka, 65, of Danforth, passed away Monday (Oct. 8, 2018) at 8:44 a.m. at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in L’Erable, with the Rev. Douglas Hauber officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in L’Erable.
Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or to her family.
Sharon was born April 28, 1953, in Kankakee, the daughter of Oliver and Dorothy (Schroeder) Frerichs. Her childhood was spent in the Danforth and Gilman areas. She graduated from Gilman High School.
Sharon married John E. Fatka on May 23, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nev. He survives.
Also surviving are her sons, Spencer Andrews, of Piper City, Eric Andrews, of Onarga, Tyler Dixon, of Gilman, and Todd Dixon, of Surprise, Ariz.; stepchildren, Amy (Dennis) Martin, of Woodland, Brian Fatka, of Ashkum, Todd (Lara) Fatka, of Chebanse, and Adam (Katie) Fatka, of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Alysa Dixon, Mollie Dixon and Adelynn Andrews; nine step-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathy (Fred) Bear, of Greenfield, Ind.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a sister, Joyce Herscher.
Sharon was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in L’Erable. She also had lived in Watseka and was a nurse’s aide for Iroquois Memorial Hospital and the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. She retired in 2012.
She enjoyed reading and traveling.
