NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices have started narrowly lower Friday on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones industrial average is down 45 points. Gainers and losers are evenly split on the New York Stock Exchange. The Nasdaq composite index is down 2 points and the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has lost 4 points.

Wall Street is starting the final session of the week with a flurry of trading activity. With the simultaneous expirations of stock futures and options, Big Board trading volume is being inflated. It’s the quarterly phenomenon known as triple witching.

Among stocks making news, Qualcomm has raised its earnings guidance for the third quarter. And Bed, Bath & Beyond topped estimates for its latest quarter and raised estimates for its current quarter.

There are no economic reports of interest being released Friday.
