Friedens man charged with strangulation

January 8, 2019

A 31-year-old Friedens man was arraigned on charges that involve assaulting and strangling his girlfriend during a “heated” domestic dispute.

Albert Marody IV, Stoystown Road, was charged with strangulation, simple assault and harassment for an altercation in a Village Way apartment early Saturday, according to Somerset Borough police.

He allegedly injured the woman by grabbing her by the throat, leaving redness there, according to police. Marody also pinned her to a couch and pushed and shoved her throughout the apartment, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Police said the inside of the apartment was in disarray when they arrived.

Marody was placed in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:50 p.m. Jan. 15 before District Judge Ken Johnson in Somerset.
