Crunk suspended 2 games; more on K’s alumni game

December 24, 2018

Komets forward Taylor Crunk has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount of money by the ECHL for blindsiding and attempting to fight the Toledo Walleye’s A.J. Jenks on Saturday at Memorial Coliseum, in response to a check that Jenks had doled out on Fort Wayne’s Ryan Lowney.

During the first period of a 5-2 Fort Wayne victory, Jenks collided with Lowney at center ice, catching the defenseman from a behind and drawing a penalty for elbowing. Crunk, in response, checked Jenks to the ice and attempted to fight him, getting a double-minor penalty for roughing. Jenks was unable to return to the game.

Crunk will miss the Komets’ games Thursday and Saturday at the Coliseum against the Kalamazoo Wings and Cincinnati Cyclones, respectively.
