Known career burglar spotted in Winona County; sheriff asks residents to be vigilant
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for a “known career burglar” that was seen in Winona County on Friday.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the individual is described as a black male, 63 years old, approximately 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds. On Friday, he was driving a white 2010 Buick LaCrosse with Minnesota plates, but said he has access to other vehicles such as a silver Jaguar, silver Mercedes and a tan Buick sedan.
On Monday, Dec. 10, he was spotted using the Jaguar in Goodhue County.
According to the post, the subject is known to commit daytime residential burglaries. He will park in the driveway, exit his vehicle and knock on the door. If the door is answered, he will ask for directions to a nearby town or make up some sort of excuse as to why he is at the residence.
If no one answers, the subject will enter the residence, using force if need be, and search for items to take, usually cash. The subject spends very little time in the house and tries to leave the residence as undisturbed as possible.
If confronted in the house by the homeowner, the suspect will claim he knocked at the door and heard someone tell him to come inside and he was looking for the person and he will then leave.
If you saw or had contact with this individual, contact the sheriff’s office at 507-457-6368.
