Berlin Brothersvalley recognized for music program
The Berlin Brothersvalley School District is among 92 Pennsylvania schools being honored for music education.
Pennsylvania Education Department Secretary Pedro Rivera announced the recognition by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation through a press release Tuesday.
“Pennsylvania continues to be a national leader in advancing strong music programs in its public schools,” Rivera said in the release. “We’ve accomplished this thanks to the efforts of talented music teachers, supportive school administrators and board members, and an outstanding professional organization, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.”
The Pennsylvania districts are among 623 throughout the country to receive the foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education recognition.
To qualify for the designation, districts have to answer questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities and music program support, according to the release. Berlin was also honored by the foundation last year.
