Proctorville man charged with arson, domestic violence

IRONTON: The following information was compiled from Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reports:

AGGRAVATED ARSON: Following a domestic violence complaint, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Nicholas C. Barton, 20, of County Road 12, Proctorville, on charges of aggravated arson and domestic violence and transported him to jail.

FELONIOUS ASSAULT: A 19-year-old Chesapeake area woman reported Saturday that her boyfriend picked up a knife and tried to cut her throat and hit her in the arms and face several times and used pepper spray on her and took her phone when she tried to call authorities.

BURGLARY: A 46-year-old Ironton area man said his sister and her boyfriend came into his home and assaulted him. Authorities subsequently couldn’t locate the couple.

DRUG ARREST: Following a traffic stop, a deputy arrested Travis Randall Gibson, 45, of Wyoming, West Virginia, on a charge of possession of drugs and transported him to jail.

DRUG POSSESSON: A homeless, 30-year-old, Summersville, West Virginia, woman had a syringe containing meth and several baggies containing suspected drugs when she was brought into the Lawrence County Jail.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: A 33-year-old South Point area woman reported last week that someone stole a 2007 Jeep valued at $10,000 from her property.

THEFT: A Proctorville area woman reported last week that someone stole two Carrier air conditioning units valued at $10,000.

THEFT: A 79-year-old Proctorville area woman reported that, last year, she paid a man to do work on her pool and he never did any work. She said she paid him $2,371.

THEFT: A 48-year-old Flatwoods, Kenutcky, man reported last week that someone stole tools and an iPhone from his truck at the Wal-Mart parking lot. The items were valued at $1,300.
