Vietnam Moving Wall Comes to Pelham
PELHAM, N.H. — You could hear the hum of the motorcade before you could see it. Elementary, middle and high school students lined Marsh Road Thursday morning, cheering and waving signs and American flags as more than 100 motorcycles rounded the corner.
Behind them, a flatbed truck tugged pieces of the Vietnam Moving Wall toward Village Green in Pelham, New Hampshire. The monument will rest outside Pelham Public Library until Monday afternoon, under 24-hour surveillance by volunteer guards.
The Moving Wall is a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It travels the country, spending about a week at each stop — and this is its first time in Pelham.
