Baylor 111, Texas Christian 104

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ David Hamilton scored 35 points, Aundre Branch added 33 and Nelson Haggerty had 18 assists as Baylor continued its strange dominance over Texas Christian 111-104 Tuesday night.

The Bears have beaten the Horned Frogs six straight times, including twice this season for their only two victories in Southwest Conference play. TCU would be leading the league with victories in those games.

Baylor (8-15, 2-8 SWC) was determined to live or die by 3-pointers in an attempt to negate Horned Frogs center Kurt Thomas, among the nation’s leaders in rebounds and scoring.

Thomas scored 36 points and grabbed 25 rebounds, but he fouled out late in this game, just as he did in the Bears’ 98-90 victory in Waco last month. At the time, it was TCU’s first conference loss.

Even with Thomas’ big night Tuesday, Baylor’s outside shooting strategy worked as it hit 11 of 22 first-half 3-pointers and made 9 of 21 in the second half.

Hamilton was 9 of 13, Branch was 6 of 12 and Roddrick Miller made 4 of 12.

The bombing helped the Bears take a 55-46 halftime lead and kept TCU at bay in the second half. The Horned Frogs (14-8, 6-4) were within five with under four minutes to play, then Thomas fouled out and the rout was on.

Hamilton led Baylor with 12 rebounds. Miller had 18 points and Haggerty scored 13. Brian Skinner had 11 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.

TCU, which used only two reserves, got 27 points and 10 assists from Juan Bragg and Jeff Jacobs had 13 points and 10 assists. Michael Thoele scored 11 and Byron Waits, 10.

The Horned Frogs took only four 3-points in the first half, hitting just one, and were forced to take more in the second half as they tried climbing back into the game. They hit 6 of 11 but it wasn’t enough.
