7 nominees considered for open Lancaster County judgeship
Seven local attorneys will be considered to replace a Lancaster County judge named to the Nebraska Supreme Court, according to a news release.
Charles Byrd Jr., Matt Kosmicki, Eddy Rodell, Hobert Rupe, Krista Carlson, Joseph Dalton and Tim Noerrlinger have applied for the judgeship vacated by John Freudenberg, who was named a state supreme court justice in June.
Byrd, of Lincoln, is a deputy Lancaster County Attorney.
Kosmicki and Rodell, both of Lincoln, are attorneys in private practice, as are Carlson (of Ashland), Dalton (Waverly) and Noerrlinger (Syracuse).
Rupe is the executive director of the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission and a former assistant Nebraska attorney general.
A judicial nominating commission will review the applicants Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom, Room 2200, at the state Capitol.
The hearing is open to the public, which can comment on the applicants.
