BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ The Buffalo Sabres agreed to a two-year deal with forward Denis Hamel on Friday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hamel, 24, appeared in 41 games for Buffalo before a knee injury ended his season in late January. He finished with eight goals, three of them game-winners, and 11 points.

With the signing of Hamel, the Sabres have two unsigned restricted free agents: Alexei Zhitnik, who led Sabres' defenseman in scoring last season, and forward Erik Rasmussen.

The Sabres open training camp in St. Catharines, Ontario, on Sept. 12.
