Aficionados of Thrills Gather at Magic Mountain
VALENCIA, Calif. (AP) _ Life has its ups and downs for Randy Geisler.
He and more than 200 other members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts spent Monday and Tuesday at Magic Mountain in Valencia, riding the Colossus, the Gold Rusher and the Revolution over and over, up and down, until midnight.
″We just don’t sleep a lot. We figure if you want to sleep, you stay home,″ said Geisler, a 38-year-old Social Security claims processor from Chicagon who is president of the 1,300-member group, known as ACE.
ACE is holding its 10th annual convention, and its members also plan to visit the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz and the Great America park in Santa Clara.
But that won’t be too tough for Geisler who once traveled with two other men 5,200 miles in 16 days to ride 48 roller coasters in 19 parks.
″I plan to be riding roller coasters when I’m 100, paying my dues till my last gasping breath,″ he said.
