Ex-boxer Accused of Sexual Contact
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) _ Former boxer Tommy Cordova has been arrested after an 11-year-old girl told authorities he made lewd comments and touched her in a sexual manner.
The 38-year-old Cordova was arrested Sunday and charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Bail was set at $100,000.
Cordova told authorities he is innocent and denied making lewd comments.
Cordova, nicknamed ``El Torito″ _ the little bull _ was a favorite with Albuquerque fans for his aggressive style and ability to take a lot of punches.
He won ESPN’s juvenile welterweight title (130 pounds) in 1984, the year after he began boxing. He retired in 1991 with a career record of 22-13-3.
