Crews continue search for brothers missing at Utah reservoir
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Rescuers say the search for two brothers who were last seen fishing at a Utah reservoir is now a recovery operation.
Authorities on Monday resumed looking for 70-year-old James “Jim” Gardiner and 61-year-old Mark Gardiner in Strawberry Reservoir but are not expecting to find them alive.
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Department says the men, both of Pleasant Grove, may have fallen over trying to retrieve a fish they caught.
Their still running boat was found Thursday with a fish still on a line from one of their fishing rods.
Divers and canine search teams from multiple state and county agencies were involved in a weekend search for the brothers.
Sheriff Jared Rigby says the reservoir, which is 90 feet (27 meters) deep in some parts, is difficult to search.
