NEW YORK (AP) _ Mandy Patinkin, who was Georges Seurat in Stephen Sondheim’s ``Sunday in the Park With George,″ is coming back to Broadway in an evening of songs by the composer.
The one-man show is called ``Mandy Patinkin in Concert: Celebrating Sondheim″ and will play 10 performances at the Henry Miller Theatre. It opens Dec. 2 and will run at the Miller on nights the theater’s regular tenant, ``Urinetown,″ is dark. Patinkin’s final performances there are Jan. 5-6.
The concert coincides with the release of Patinkin’s new two-CD set, ``Mandy Patinkin Sings Sondheim,″ which features songs from 11 Sondheim musicals as well as the film ``Dick Tracy″ and the television special ``Evening Primrose.″
In its liner notes, Patinkin has said that both the show and the CD are ``a figurative journey of how Sondheim’s lyrics and music speak to me.″
