EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ McArdle edged entrymate Art Major by a nose Saturday night in the $650,000 William R. Haughton Memorial Final at the Meadowlands.

McArdle, driven by Mike Lachance, paced the mile in 1:50 in the richest race for older pacers.

``He felt real good on the last turn,'' Lachance said. ``As soon as he saw the stretch, he took off. He digs in so much at the end.''

McArdle, trained by Chris Ryder, paid $2.60, $2.80 and $2.20 and was coupled in the wagering with Art Major. Mini Me returned $3.60 to show.

McArdle earned $325,000 for the TLP Stable.
