10 arrested protesting no charges for Little Rock cop

May 14, 2019

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Ten protesters have been arrested on disorderly conduct charges after police said they briefly shut down a downtown Little Rock intersection.

The 10 were part of a group demonstrating their demand that a white police officer who fatally shot a black motorist in February be prosecuted.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports about 20 people blocked traffic Tuesday, prompting police to warn protesters that they’d be arrested if they stayed in the streets.

Last month, Pulaski County prosecutor Larry Jegley declined charges against Officer Charles Starks, who shot Bradley Blackshire 15 times through a windshield, killing him. Jegley said the vehicle was moving and an “imminent threat” that justified the use of deadly force.
