One Palestinian Killed, Six Wounded in Clash with Israelis
DEIR QADIS, West Bank (AP) _ Israeli troops shot and killed one Palestinian and wounded six others on Sunday during a protest over Israeli land confiscations in the West Bank, the Voice of Palestine said.
A hospital official in Ramallah confirmed one man died after being shot in the head. He was identified as Atallah Amira, 36, of the village of Naalin.
The official Palestinian radio station said the soldiers opened fire when about 200 demonstrators reached an army roadblock just outside the village of Deir Qadis.
At the PLO Fatah headquarters in Ramallah, PLO official Mahmoud Jasser confirmed that seven Palestinians were wounded.
The army spokesman’s office said it was checking the report.
