Non-timber forest farming workshop set for Beech Fork
LAVALETTE — A non-timber forest farming workshop is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Beech Fork Marina in Lavalette.
The event is geared toward those who are interested in farming but have more forest than bottom land, as well as those who have considered how they might be a better steward of forests. Attendees also should include those who are curious how Appalachians have lived in harmony with plants for hundreds of years, as well as those who would like to make more money off their land without having to timber.
There is no cost but folks should RSVP if they would like dinner (which is provided). The workshop, which will be conducted by a representative from Berea College, is open to anyone interested in non-timber forest farming, cultivating, sustainably wild harvesting, and more.
RSVPs should be made to Lacy Davidson at 304-546-7930.
