GAS PIPELINES-PERMITS HALTED
Pennsylvania is halting permits for gas pipelines operated by Texas-based Energy Transfer LP, saying the company isn’t complying with an order to fix problems after an explosion last year along one of its pipelines. UPCOMING: 350 words by 5 p.m. ET.
_SIXERS-MOSES MALONE SCULPTURE _ The Philadelphia 76ers are paying tribute to the late Moses Malone, a three-time NBA MVP and one of basketball’s most ferocious rebounders, with a sculpture and a jersey retirement ceremony. The Sixers unveiled the sculpture Friday morning at their practice facility in New Jersey.
_CLERGY ABUSE-EL PASO _ The trial of a former Texas priest accused of sexually abusing an alter server for years has been postponed after Catholic leaders revealed the names of hundreds of priests with links to the state who are credibly accused of child abuse.
_RABID RACCOON-MAN ATTACKED _ Officials say a hiker in Pennsylvania’s Poconos Mountains was attacked by a rabid raccoon and defended by his dog, who pulled the varmint off.
_POLICE FUNDRAISER-MAN TICKETED _ Some Pennsylvania officers participating in a “Skate with a Cop” fundraiser at a roller rink had to take a break from the fun to deal with a drunken man who was falling over and running into other skaters.
_BRITAIN-PILOT ARRESTED _ Police say a pilot of an American Airlines flight from London to Philadelphia was been arrested at Britain’s Manchester Airport on suspicion of being drunk.
_ARMED MAN AT SCHOOL _ Pennsylvania State Police say a man who ran through an elementary school armed with a gun before fleeing, stealing a vehicle and running over a Jonestown employee has been taken into custody.
_ SCHOOL CLOSED-CARBON MONOXIDE _ A Pennsylvania school has been shuttered after 12 people were sickened there by carbon monoxide.
_ WIFE SLAIN-HUSBAND CHARGED _ A Pennsylvania man who claimed he accidentally shot his wife in the back of the head has been convicted of first-degree murder.
