Ludington City Council appoints acting city manager
The Ludington City Council Monday appointed Jackie Steckel to become the acting city manager until a permanent manager is hired and starts the job.
Steckel has been the assistant to the city manager since 1991, and she started as a clerk for the city in 1987.
Interim City Manager Steve Brock recommended Steckel be chosen as acting city manager, and the council agreed with Brock’s recommendation.
Councilor Kathy Winczewski said that Steckel’s years of experience make her the right pick for the job.
“Jackie has been with the city a long time. She knows the city extremely well,” she said. “I think she’s more than qualified, and I’m happy she’s doing it.”
