Tri-State residents sentenced in Lawrence court

IRONTON — A Coal Grove man on Wednesday admitted violating community control sanctions in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court and was sentenced to 300 days in the Lawrence County Jail.

Jepsey B.S. Murrell, 49, of the 100 block of Wilson Drive, Coal Grove, admitted violating community control sanctions and was sentenced by Judge Charles “Chuck” Cooper.

In an unrelated case, Michael T. Meadows, 30, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, pleaded guilty to identity fraud and was sentenced to six months in prison.

In other cases:

• D. Scott Lambert, 53, of Higgins Street, Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs, two counts of trafficking in marijuana and three counts of illegal transportation of alcohol. He was placed on four years of community control sanctions and ordered to do 200 hours of community service. He also was ordered to complete a 135-day program at the STAR Community Justice Center and forfeit a handgun he had in his possession when arrested.

• Paul Rockel, 33, of the 700 block of Etna Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to aggravated

possession of heroin, possession of drugs and possession of drug abuse instruments. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR.

• Anthony M. Biggs, a homeless Huntington resident, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and possession of drugs. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service. He also faces charges in West Virginia.

• Chastity D. Payne, 26, of County Road 15, South Point, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and failure to appear. She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to do 200 hours of community service and complete the program at STAR.

• Thomas C. Arthur III, 39, of Ohio 775, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and was placed on treatment in lieu of conviction. He was ordered to do 200 hours of community service and get treatment at Spectrum. He also is to stay drug-and alcohol-free for a year.

• Christopher Ratliff, 28, of Kentucky 503, Wurtland, Kentucky, admitted violating community control sanctions. He was ordered to get drug treatment at Spectrum.

• Marian Fields, 46, of Grove Street, Russell, Kentucky, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (meth). He was placed on community control sanctions and was ordered to complete the program at STAR.

• Mark A. Saxton, 46, of Ellison Avenue, South Point, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. Final sentencing was set for Oct. 31.

• Mary K. Groves, 39, of the 900 block of North 5th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and was placed on treatment in lieu of conviction. She was ordered to complete a program at Mended Reeds and do 200 hours of community service.

• David C. Barry, 49, of Fairview Drive, South Point, pleaded innocent to felony driving under the influence. Bond was set at $10,000.
