BHS wrestlers win Fairbury Invite

FAIRBURY -- Beatrice was able to win a team championship in their last regular season meet of the season.

The Orangemen won the Fairbury Invite on Friday.

They finished with 142 points, which put them ahead of Milford’s 120.5 points, Sabetha’s 104 points, Bishop Neumann’s 93.5 points and Fairbury’s 85 points.

Beatrice was able to claim four individual championships. Tanner York won the 113-pound division while Drew Arnold won the 120-pound division.

Trevor Reinke won the 126-pound division and Torrance Keehn won the 170-pound division.

Beatrice had three runner-up finishes on the day. Bryce Karlin finished runner-up in the 106-pound division while Cole Maschmann finished runner up in the 138-pound division and Brody Nelson finished runner-up in the 160-pound division.

Finishing third for Beatrice individually included Mario Bukovnik in the 120-pound division, Jarrett Koch in the 145-pound division, Coleton Williamson in the 152-pound division, Brock Ostdiek in the 170-pound division, Zach Markey in the 195-pound division and Jackson Zhang in the 220-pound division.

Coleton Jelinek finished fourth in the 132-pound division.

Fairbury had two individual champions. Seth Firmanik won the 182-pound division while Domenic Hyson won the 195-pound division.

Finishing runner-up for Fairbury included Juan Lemus at 170 and Tommy Kroeker at 285.

Third place finishes included Autumn Branson at 106 and Carson York at 126. Colton Rowlett finished fourth at 120 and Devin Holiday finished fourth at 138.

Beatrice will be in action again this weekend when they travel to districts at Platteview. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to state.

Other teams in Beatrice’s district will be Bennington, Blair, Columbus Lakeview, Nebraska City, Omaha Roncalli, Omaha Skutt, Platteview, Plattsmouth, Ralston, Seward and West Point-Beemer.

Fairbury will compete in the B-3 district at Aurora.
