Stories aimed at showing issues teen parents face

November 2, 2014

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — The Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy will host a screening of digital stories created by young parents to illustrate the issues they face, including violence, discrimination and homelessness.

Working with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst’s “Hear Our Stories” project, the alliance will hold a public screening and discussion Wednesday evening in the Fong Auditorium at Harvard University.

“Hear Our Stories” focuses on young Latina women whose families are shifting or uprooted, or who may have gone through the foster care system.

After the screening, some of the young women who created the digital stories will take part in a panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
