Police: Hartford officer shoots knife-wielding man
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Hartford police say a man who was wielding a knife has been taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot by a city officer responding to a reported domestic dispute.
The shooting happened at about 11 a.m. Friday.
Police say the man was said to be agitated and holding a knife. Officials say two officers entered a second-floor apartment and were immediately confronted by the man, and officers yelled at him to drop the knife. Gunfire followed.
Authorities identified the officers as 15-year department veteran Chris White, who shot the man, and 10-year veteran Michael Bodner, who did not fire his gun.
The man has not been named.
The officers were not injured but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
State police are investigating the shooting.
