Phoenix police have identified a homicide suspect who was shot and killed as well as two of the three victims.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl says 39-year-old Edward Hallinan fired a weapon from inside his truck as officers were setting up a perimeter around a home Wednesday afternoon.

Police were responding to a call from a woman reporting that her husband was firing shots from a rifle.

Pfohl says Hallinan fired a second shot, leading to an officer returning fire.

Hallinan was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries.

Police located 26-year-old Vidal Hernandez-Gutierrez, 21-year-old Francisco Javier Galindo and an unidentified third man inside the home. All three were pronounced dead.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl confirmed Thursday that the suspect involved in Wednesday’s incident has died but Pfohl did not immediately release the suspect’s identity or additional information about the incident and the suspect’s subsequent death.

Police encountered the suspect as they responded to a report of a domestic violence dispute involving the suspect and the suspect’s wife at their home.
