Estonia soccer coach quits after mixed record over 3 years
TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — Estonia football coach Magnus Pehrsson has stepped down after a mixed record over nearly three years, and been replaced by national under-21 team coach Martin Reim.
The departure of Pehrsson was announced by the Estonian Football Association on Wednesday following discussions on what it called “the prevailing situation” with the Swede, whose team had 11 wins, eight draws, and 14 defeats in 33 matches.
The 45-year-old Reim, who played for Estonia from 1992-09, took over immediately under contract through 2017.
Estonia, whose FIFA ranking is 117, reached its highest position of 47 in 2012.
