WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is insisting his views on a border wall with Mexico have not evolved. He’s pushing back against comments made by his own chief of staff. Trump says on Twitter: “The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it.” Some Democrats who met with chief of staff John Kelly this week say Kelly told them parts of the border are not needed — and that Trump didn’t know that when he made campaign promises.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The closed-door questioning of former chief strategist Steve Bannon is focusing attention on White House efforts to control what current and former advisers may tell Congress about possible connections with Russia. President Donald Trump’s White House is relying on a sweeping interpretation of executive privilege that keeps pretty much everything off limits until the president says it’s not. This is rankling members of Congress, including Republicans.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is traveling to southwestern Pennsylvania on Thursday to hail the Republican tax cuts he signed last year. Trump will appear with Rick Saccone, the Republican nominee for a Pittsburgh-area House seat, but the White House says Trump won’t mention Saccone in his remarks. Trump is looking for wins after the embarrassment of losing a Senate seat last month in conservative Alabama.

UNDATED (AP) — Several Southern states are dealing with the lingering effects of a slow-moving winter storm that dumped up to 12 inches of snow in central North Carolina, dusted the deep South and killed at least 10 people. The snow stopped Thursday morning, but officials warned of dangerous driving conditions because of black ice.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — Pope Francis has celebrated the first-ever airborne papal wedding, marrying two flight attendants from Chile’s flagship airline during a flight from Santiago. The pope offered to do the honors after the couple told him they had been married in a civil service in 2010 but were unable to follow up with a church ceremony because of the 2010 earthquake that hit Chile. The head of the airline served as the witness.
