FAFSA now open for 2019-20 school year
MALTA – The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now open for the 2019-20 school year, and Kishwaukee College students soon can file early in an annual event on campus.
Kish College plans to hold its FAFSA Completion Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in Room A1345 on campus, according to a news release from the college.
Applicants will need their FSA ID, social security number, driver’s license number or alien registration number, list of schools attending and records of untaxed income and assets to complete the FAFSA, along with 2017 tax information, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
Filing the FAFSA helps determine what federal or state financial aid a student is eligible for, including Pell grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity grants, federal student loans and Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants. Filing early might qualify a student for funding from more financial aid sources; the MAP grant is dispersed on a “first-come, first-served” basis, for example, according to the Kish College release.
Students and parents can submit applications using a mobile app, myStudentAid, which allows you to manage your FSA ID and view your loan information. It is available in the Apple and Android app stores.
