Murder probe after 2 women living in NY home found dead
UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the killings of two elderly women who lived in a two-story duplex in Utica.
Police in Utica found the remains of 90-year-old Katerine Aubain on Monday as they investigated the death of 87-year-old Jane Wentka, who lived at the same address.
Wentka’s remains were found on the first floor of the house Sunday night. Aubain’s body was found Monday at an electrical substation in nearby Clayville.
Police say Aubain was the grandmother of a 29-year-old suspect and that the two lived together upstairs. The suspect was taken into custody after he crashed his vehicle into a telephone pole Sunday night.
The Oneida County district attorney’s office says it plans to charge the suspect with two counts of first-degree murder when he is released from the hospital.
