May 20, 2019

NEW MILFORD — The town will be collecting donations and supplies for the families displaced by last week’s fire on Housatonic Avenue.

A fire broke out in a multi-family home at 101 Housatonic Ave. around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Six of the 11 occupants were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and minor burns, and all were displaced. The cause of the devastating fire could not be determined.

“I have spoken to our social services director, Ivana Butera, and we will be accepting monetary donations at the mayor’s office and social services,” Mayor Pete Bass announced Sunday.

New Milford Social Services is at 2 Pickett District Road, and the mayor’s office is at 10 Main St.

Checks should be made out to New Milford Social Services, and “Housatonic Fire” should be put in the memo.

Anyone interested in donating supplies should call 860-355-6079 to make arrangements with New Milford Social Services.
